Description
Mayo Clinic’s one-year Genitourinary Pathology Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, provides specialized training in diagnosing routine, complex, and rare genitourinary specimens. The ACGME-accredited program combines specimen review, ancillary testing, grossing, intraoperative consultation, and collaboration with clinicians and radiologists. Fellows gain progressively greater responsibility through a practice handling around 6,000 genitourinary cases annually.
Training includes molecular pathology techniques such as fluorescence in situ hybridization, next-generation sequencing, digital droplet PCR, chromosomal microarrays, and fusion detection, alongside participation in a practice transitioning to fully digital pathology workflows. Research opportunities cover clinical-pathological correlation, translational research, and applied molecular and digital pathology. Fellows can develop their own research ideas, work with faculty-led projects, and pursue publication or presentations at national or international meetings.
