Description
This Fulbright Scholar award supports research relevant to Irish geoscience, with affiliation at Geological Survey Ireland (GSI) or an appropriate university in Ireland. It is primarily a research position, combining an applicant-designed project with expertise-sharing and long-term collaboration with Irish researchers. Topics include geological and marine mapping, geological processes, Earth observation, groundwater, geothermal energy, raw materials and minerals, and public understanding of Earth resources. Listed disciplines are geology, environmental sciences, and environmental studies.
Scholars share expertise through short courses, field trips, workshops, or related activities rather than necessarily teaching full modules. Scholars based at GSI must also support teaching programs at Irish higher education institutions. Through research and host-community engagement, the award advances Fulbright’s goal of strengthening U.S.–international relationships and mutual understanding.
