Description
The Gerda Henkel Visiting Professorship at the German Historical Institute London (GHIL) promotes research on German history from 1890 to the present within a European context. Established with Foundation funding in 2008, it gives exceptionally qualified historians teaching and researching modern history at German universities the opportunity to undertake a major research project. The programme was created in response to the comparatively limited attention given to the history of the Federal Republic in British research on Germany.
The GHIL appointment is linked to a Visiting Professorship in the International History Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). It forms part of the Foundation’s international fellowship partnerships, which promote research collaboration through academic partner institutions.
