--- ## Description The Geriatric Oral Research Group (GORG) Awards, presented by the International Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (IADR), honor excellence and innovation in geriatric oral health research. The program aims to foster advancements in understanding, preventing, and treating oral diseases among older adults. Awards are offered in multiple categories, including for dental/dental hygiene students (Jonathan Ship Award), pre-doctoral researchers and junior faculty, and post-doctoral researchers. Winners are selected based on the significance and originality of their research, scientific design, methodology, and the strength of their conclusions. Awardees receive a monetary prize, a certificate, and are recognized at the GORG Annual Business Meeting during the IADR General Session. --- ## Due Dates - October 2026: Application deadline for the Geriatric Oral Research Group (GORG) Awards (anticipated/projected) - January 2027: Abstract submission deadline for the IADR General Session (anticipated/projected) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - Each award consists of a monetary prize and a certificate. - The specific monetary value is not published but is awarded to recipients in each category annually. --- ## Eligibility - Open to both IADR members and non-members. - Applicants must have conducted original research in geriatric oral health and submit findings as an abstract for poster presentation at the IADR General Session. - Applicants can only apply in one category at a time. - Previous winners may not compete in the same category again but may apply in a different category if eligible. - No person may receive two IADR awards at the same meeting. - Categories: - **Jonathan Ship Award:** For dental or dental hygiene students who have not yet graduated. - **Pre-doctoral Award:** For candidates with an oral health or related degree (DHYG, DDS/DMD/BDS, MD, or equivalent), including junior faculty and academics. - **Post-doctoral Award:** For those pursuing or holding a research doctorate (PhD or equivalent, post-doctoral level), including faculty at the instructor or assistant professor rank (or equivalent, within 5 years of first appointment). - The applicant must be the presenting author for the abstract, though not necessarily the first author. --- ## Application Process - Submit an abstract for poster presentation at the IADR General Session, indicating: 1.
