    Description

The German Studies Association (GSA) Conference Community Fund helps scholars in financially or professionally precarious circumstances participate in the association’s annual conference. Established by GSA members in early 2020, it supports conference involvement rather than a separate research project. Eligible groups include contingent faculty, recent PhDs, graduate students, independent scholars, and other educators facing financial precarity.

The fund prioritizes presenters and encourages applications from scholars in underrepresented groups. Its general guidelines also allow attendance-only support when resources remain available, particularly for graduate students and unaffiliated scholars in German Studies and related fields. However, the application requires applicants to have already applied for a qualifying conference role. Member donations sustain the fund, and awards continue until those donations are exhausted.
