Description
The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) awards this prize to an individual for outstanding research in behavioral neurology and a strong commitment to expanding the field through research. Its scope includes behavioral, geriatric, and cognitive neurology; neuropsychology; neuropsychiatry; cognitive neuroscience; and other fields within behavioral neurology.
The prize emphasizes applicants’ independent contributions and their direct or indirect impact on understanding behavioral neurology. Review considers research innovation, clarity, impact, statistical methodology, ethical considerations, and potential to fill a gap. Broader priorities include scientific integrity, academic excellence, scientific citizenship, mentorship, professionalism, and inspiration for future generations. The prize is endowed through Dr. Geschwind’s family, friends, and colleagues; Pfizer Inc.; and the Society for Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology.
