    Description

The Getty Scholars Program supports innovative research in art and its histories by offering residencies to international scholars at the Getty Center or Getty Villa in Los Angeles. The program fosters a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, providing access to the Getty Research Institute’s collections and resources. Each year, research projects are organized around an annual theme, with opportunities for both individual and team research. The program includes dedicated appointments for scholars working on African American art history through the African American Art History Initiative (AAAHI) and encourages projects spanning diverse periods, regions, and methodologies. Residencies include stipends, housing, travel funds, and access to research support and healthcare options.
