Description
The Global Champion Fund is a funding line within the UZH Global Funding Scheme, administered by UZH Global Affairs and supported by Freie Universitat Berlin. It is designed to foster large-scale, sustainable, and globally impactful collaborations between the University of Zurich (UZH) and international partners—including both academic institutions and reputable non-academic organizations (such as policy institutes or boundary organizations). Projects must advance the objectives of the UZH Global Strategy 2030, which emphasizes internationalization, societal responsibility, and global engagement at the intersection of science, policy, and diplomacy.
Eligible activities include the development of strategic partnerships, capacity-building programs, joint research and innovation initiatives, policy engagement, and science diplomacy efforts. The fund encourages the creation of institutional frameworks for long-term collaboration and supports projects that can demonstrate strong institutional buy-in and the potential for significant follow-up activities or third-party funding acquisition.
