Global Lyme Alliance (GLA) supports innovative, evidence-based, data-driven research addressing critical gaps in Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. The program aims to advance scientific knowledge and improve patient outcomes, with particular emphasis on post-treatment and chronic manifestations of Lyme disease. It offers a Research Grant and an Early Career Research Grant supporting investigators beginning independent research careers.
Priorities encompass accurate diagnostics, early detection, biomarkers, disease mechanisms, novel treatments, epidemiology, and biobanks. Supported approaches include investigating immune dysfunction and neuroinflammation, developing animal models, repurposing drugs, testing antimicrobial and immune-directed therapies, and studying co-infections and disease burden. GLA also encourages standardized sample repositories, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cutting-edge technologies with potential to improve patient care.
