Description
The Pulitzer Center’s Global South Civil Society Microgrants connect journalism with communities and civic actors to foster learning, dialogue, and informed action. The program supports civil society—including grassroots collectives, community-led movements, artists, and civic coalitions—in using published Pulitzer Center-supported reporting to deepen understanding of environmental challenges. Projects should center the perspectives of people who protect and depend on rainforests, the ocean, and climate-sensitive livelihoods.
Supported activities include knowledge-sharing, community organizing, digital campaigns, public performances, creative publications, and public dialogues involving affected communities, journalists, decision-makers, and academia. Projects may build on existing activities or launch new ones. Their goals include strengthening awareness and critical thinking, amplifying diverse perspectives, informing transparent decisions and practices, and equipping communities to act locally or globally.
