Description
The Pulitzer Center's Global South Civil Society Microgrants are designed to empower grassroots organizations, civic coalitions, community-led movements, artists, and educators in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. The program funds civic engagement projects that leverage Pulitzer Center-supported journalism to foster deeper public understanding and community action on challenges facing rainforests, oceans, and the climate. Projects should center the perspectives of those who protect and depend on these ecosystems and aim to spark dialogue, amplify diverse voices, and equip communities with actionable knowledge.
Eligible activities include community organizing, creative public campaigns, and innovative knowledge-sharing initiatives that connect impactful reporting with local realities. The grant does not support journalism or reporting projects themselves, but rather activities that use existing Pulitzer Center-supported journalism as a foundation for civic engagement.
