Description
The Pulitzer Center’s microgrants help civil society groups in the Global South connect journalism with communities and civic actors. Projects can build on existing activities or launch new ones, using reporting to foster learning, dialogue, critical thinking, and informed decisions. Supported approaches include community organizing and knowledge-sharing, digital campaigns, performances and creative publications, public discussions, and other civic engagement activities.
The program focuses on three topics: rainforest degradation and the rights and roles of Indigenous communities; marine degradation, ocean governance, and community-led solutions; and the intersection of climate and labor, including gender, livelihoods, adaptation, and resilience. Projects should center the perspectives of people who protect or depend on these ecosystems.
