Description
The American Psychological Foundation (APF) Gold Medal Award for Impact in Psychology honors contributions that have already changed psychology, rather than funding a proposed research project. Recognition may be for a sustained body of work in a particular field or a single pivotal contribution. The program cites Evelyn Hooker’s work leading to removal of the diagnosis of homosexuality from the DSM and David Barlow’s work in anxiety as examples of field-changing contributions.
APF welcomes nominations across academic, scientific, practitioner, public-interest, and applied psychology. Selection emphasizes impact, innovation, rigor, and alignment with APF’s Visionary priorities and mission.
