Description
The Golden Trowel Award is administered by the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) to recognize membership growth within its local Society network. It honors the Society whose membership increases the most proportionally over the preceding fiscal year. The award is part of the AIA’s effort to help Societies grow and sustain their activities.
Membership enables local Societies to host lectures and develop other programs. Through this award, the AIA recognizes membership-building efforts and commends Society Officers for managing their Societies and encouraging new people to join. Its focus is organizational growth, rather than support for a particular archaeological research topic or fieldwork project.
