Description
Villa I Tatti’s Graduate Fellowships allow Harvard PhD students working on their dissertations to pursue research with minimal obligations and interruptions and extensive scholarly resources. The residential program is based at Harvard’s Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, where fellows use the Berenson Library and participate in a community of scholars.
Preference is given to research related to early modern Italy, including transnational connections, the circulation of ideas, objects, and people during the Renaissance, and Renaissance historiography and its later revival. Supported fields include architecture and the arts, history, philosophy, literature, music, and history of science. The program welcomes studies of the Italian Renaissance’s impact in the modern era as well as interdisciplinary research supported by the library’s collections.
