Description
The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) Graduate Research Fellowship supports individuals pursuing a Ph.D. or equivalent degree through research on Friedreich’s ataxia (FA). The fellowship combines a defined research project with development of the student’s FA-related career goals and mentoring environment. Research must align with at least one of FARA’s research priorities, and preliminary data are encouraged but not required.
FARA’s priorities span neuroscience, cardiac disease, the molecular basis of FA, drug discovery, translational research and drug development, and clinical research. The program helps build the next generation of FA researchers through a mentoring plan developed jointly by the student and primary research mentor. Recipients are encouraged to attend the International Congress for Ataxia Research, with FARA facilitating participation.
