Description
The American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand (AFSH) supports hand and upper extremity care through four pillars: research, education, outreach, and practice. Research programs support basic and clinical investigations and young researchers. Education funding supports new and existing programs, recognizes mentors, and provides scholarships and fellowships for young surgeons. Outreach finances volunteer hand care, while practice funding supports private practitioners and resources such as Hand-P.
Within this portfolio, Clinical Grants support short-term exploratory or developmental research, including pilot studies, self-contained studies, and research methodology or technology development. Established by ASSH and AFSH, these grants aim to help investigators secure subsequent funding from sources such as NIH. Preliminary data are optional, and proposals on any hand or upper-limb topic are welcome.
