Finlandia Foundation National (FFN) awards grants annually for projects related to Finnish-American and Finnish history, heritage, preservation, arts, and culture. The program advances FFN’s mission to sustain Finnish-American heritage and build bridges between modern Finland and the United States, enabling people of all backgrounds to share in Finnish and Finnish-American traditions.
The foundation favors projects that reach many people, attract favorable public attention, and appeal beyond the ethnic Finnish community. It also values activities involving children and young adults, work that adds to cultural research, and projects with leverage or multiplier effects. Activities that can be replicated or become lasting additions to a community’s cultural life are among its stated priorities.
