Description
Georgia Humanities offers competitive grants to Georgia-based nonprofit organizations, libraries, museums, accredited colleges/universities, historical societies, government agencies, and tribal governments for public-facing humanities projects. These grants support programs that encourage community dialogue, public engagement, and thoughtful interpretation of the human experience. Eligible project formats include (but are not limited to) exhibitions, walking tours, author talks, lecture series, literary festivals, digital humanities initiatives, and oral history projects.
For Fall 2026, a special opportunity is available under the America250 initiative, supporting projects that commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States by exploring historical legacies, ideals, and civic questions from a Georgia perspective. Projects are not required to address the America250 theme but may opt in for consideration under this initiative.
Projects must involve at least one humanities scholar, be open to the public (free or low-cost), and fulfill a 1:1 match requirement (cash and/or in-kind). All activities must be completed by December 31, 2026.
