Funding Amounts: Requests may be in U.S. dollars and/or Japanese yen; eligible project grants generally allow indirect costs up to 20% of direct costs.

Description
The United States-Japan Foundation (USJF) supports projects that enhance relations and understanding between the United States and Japan or address challenges facing both nations. Its guiding theme is investing in collective strength: enabling its community to illuminate shared problems, confront them, and identify ways the two countries can work together. Supported work may address problems within either country, across the region, or around the world through a bilateral perspective.
USJF is an independent, endowed charitable organization working to strengthen bilateral ties and catalyze collaboration and exchange. Its grants program connects improved U.S.-Japan understanding with practical cooperation on shared challenges. Applications begin with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI), followed by a full proposal only for invited applicants.
