    Description

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland supports high-quality research and publication relating to Scotland’s past. Awards advance its vision and mission and its lead role in delivering Aim 2 of Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy: enhance understanding. Funding supports excavation other than rescue archaeological fieldwork, post-excavation work, scientific analysis, and expert research visits to museums, collections and archives in Scotland or abroad.

Direct publication costs, including Open Access charges, and outreach activities may also receive support where they align with the Society’s vision and mission. Applications should clearly demonstrate their research value and impact. Historical projects incorporating an aspect directly related to material culture may receive preference. The Society also considers research frameworks, climate and environmental impacts, equality, accessibility and opportunities for public engagement.
