--- ## Description The Heinz Endowments provides grant funding to nonprofit organizations and partnerships working to advance the Pittsburgh region as a vibrant center for arts, civic engagement, and sustainable social, economic, and environmental development. Funding is available across several strategic areas, including: - Arts & Culture - Civic Participation - Climate, Environment & Health - Community & Economic Development - Food Systems - Veterans - Workforce The Endowments prioritize projects that address urgent or severe needs, have broad or long-lasting impact, and demonstrate innovative collaboration, particularly among multiple nonprofit or governmental partners. Special emphasis is placed on supporting vulnerable populations in southwestern Pennsylvania. --- ## Due Dates - Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; there is no set deadline. - Grants are awarded until available funds are depleted. --- ## Funding Amount - There is no set minimum or maximum award amount. - Grant sizes vary based on the project’s scope, urgency, and available funding. - The Endowments average nearly $90 million in annual grantmaking across all programs. --- ## Eligibility - Applicants must be nonprofit organizations classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and as public charities under Section 509(a) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. - Government entities that are federally tax-exempt may also apply. - For the Community Partners Fund, applicants must be current or former Endowments grantees, though they may partner with nonprofits that have not previously received funding. - Projects must primarily benefit residents of southwestern Pennsylvania. - Individuals and for-profit organizations are not eligible. --- ## Application Process ### General Grants 1. **Review Strategic Areas:** Ensure your project aligns with one of the Endowments’ strategic priorities. See [Strategic Areas](https://www.heinz.org/strategic-areas). 2. **Letter of Inquiry (LOI):** Submit a brief LOI via the [Blackbaud Applicant & Grantee Portal](https://apply.yourcausegrants.com/apply/programs/2a63cee4-c043-4978-9a73-14c8f882f9e6/routing). LOIs are reviewed within approximately 45 days. 3. **Full Application:** If invited, submit a detailed application including a narrative, budget, financials, and compliance documentation. 4. **Review & Decision:** Proposals undergo staff review, possible site visits, and due diligence.
