Description
The Heinz Endowments supports organizations working toward an exemplary, sustainable southwestern Pennsylvania, with a shared vision for the Pittsburgh region’s prosperity and belonging. Grantmaking spans six program areas: Arts & Culture; Civic Participation; Climate, Environment & Health; Community & Economic Development; Veterans; and Workforce. Prospective applicants should review the relevant strategy before applying.
The foundation supports work that strengthens regional arts and culture, civic participation, and social, economic and environmental sustainability. Research is explicitly included in its environmental and civic strategies: environmental work uses data-informed solutions to regional challenges, while civic research helps test and refine collaborative-governance interventions. Arts funding emphasizes ecosystem-wide benefits through shared infrastructure, broader participation and pathways into paid creative work.
