The Gravity Research Foundation’s trustees run this annual essay competition to stimulate thought and encourage work on the phenomenon of gravitation. The 2027 competition, its seventy-eighth, offers five awards for the best and most well-written short essays addressing gravitation, its theory, applications, or effects. Essays may or may not present original research, but their ideas should be self-contained and understandable without requiring readers to consult other documents.
The competition is not intended to replace a research journal for detailed original findings. It favors essays rather than lengthy mathematical calculations or detailed descriptions of experimental setups. The five award-winning essays will be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Modern Physics D.
