Description
The Utah Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands funds research to help lake managers understand Great Salt Lake and make decisions about its resources. The Great Salt Lake Technical Team identifies research needs, but proposals outside its listed topics are also considered if they would significantly improve knowledge or address a management need. Research data and deliverables will be publicly accessible.
Recent topics include salinity and lake species, microbialites, water budgets and groundwater, salt balance, wetlands and vegetation, birds, lake bathymetry, microbiomes, and dust. Projects may conduct pilot or applied research, synthesize information, develop methods, or connect existing research to management improvements.
