Description
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Fish & Wildlife operates the Great Swamp Shooting Range in the Great Swamp Management Area. This opportunity provides a free permit to use the public range; it does not fund research or other projects. The facility has covered 50- and 100-yard firearm ranges, a clay target range, and an archery range, with Range Safety Officers supervising shooting.
The range also supports DEM’s Hunter Safety Education Program. Its activities emphasize safe firearm storage, transport, handling, and shooting, along with accuracy for ethical and humane hunting. Adults and youth can use the facility to practice, sight in firearms, and adjust scopes.
