Description
The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s competitive Transportation Alternatives solicitation funds projects for local communities and regional agencies. Eligible work includes pedestrian and bicycle facilities, safe routes for non-drivers, historic transportation preservation, environmental mitigation, recreational trails, scenic byways, and Safe Routes to School activities. The program brings together funding previously provided through several separate transportation programs.
For the Greater Minnesota solicitation, area transportation partnerships (ATPs) manage the application process in their regions. The seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area has a separate solicitation conducted by the Metropolitan Council and its Transportation Advisory Board.
