Green, circular and resilient harbours supports ports, authorities, scientists and industry in testing solutions to restore ecosystems, reduce pollution and advance circularity and climate resilience.
Funder: European Commission
Due Dates: February 9, 2027 (Opening) | September 21, 2027, 17:00 CEST (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: Expected €5.50–€5.95 million per project for 3–4 years; €11.90 million total for two projects
Summary: Supports demonstrations of innovative solutions that restore port ecosystems, reduce pollution, advance circularity and strengthen climate resilience.
Key Information: Projects are expected to demonstrate solutions in at least four ports, covering all four Mission basins.
This European Commission Horizon Europe Innovation Action supports the Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.” It funds testing, deployment and scaling of systemic innovative solutions in coastal and inland ports of any size or activity, including fishing, commercial, marina and recreational ports. The aim is measurable progress on ecosystem restoration, pollution prevention, biodiversity recovery and natural resource management, alongside a carbon-neutral and circular blue economy.
Projects bring together harbours, local stakeholders, authorities, scientists and industry to develop local implementation strategies. Work may address renewable energy, alternative fuels, circular practices, biodiversity restoration, nature-based solutions and climate adaptation. Cross-port learning, assistance for smaller ports, monitoring and replication in associated regions are central to extending effective solutions beyond demonstration sites.
