Description
The American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute Pharmaceutical Roundtable recognizes industrial chemists and teams developing more sustainable technologies for discovery and medicinal chemistry involving biologically active molecules. Technologies may already have significant impact or demonstrate the potential for it. The award emphasizes innovations whose broader implementation could substantially advance the discovery chemistry community’s future sustainability goals.
Focus areas include sustainable final-product isolation, automated and parallel synthesis, non-conventional synthetic strategies, sustainable structure-activity relationship approaches to ADME optimization, and molecular design that accelerates lead identification or considers long-term biodegradation. Improvements in other parts of the discovery process are also welcome. Nominations should demonstrate compelling environmental, safety, or efficiency benefits relative to existing approaches.
