Description
The Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program is offered by Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development, with funds allocated to the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Marcellus Legacy Fund established by Act 13 of 2012. It supports planning, land acquisition, development, rehabilitation, and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks, and beautification projects.
Eligible work includes public indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, linear public trails and related support facilities, and improvements to rivers, streams, and watersheds for recreational purposes. Planning may lay the groundwork for future acquisition, development, or management, including business plans for outdoor recreation businesses. Acquisition may cover land, easements, or rights-of-way for recreation, conservation, critical habitat, natural areas, and open space.
