Description
The Indiana Office of Energy Development (OED) administers this program through Section 40101(d) of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grants program. Indiana’s five-year strategy builds on existing efforts and supplements existing funding to strengthen electric infrastructure against disruptions. Its all-hazards approach emphasizes threats particularly relevant to Indiana, including tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.
Investments aim to reduce the frequency and duration of customer outages, protect critical community services during disasters, and provide equitable access to safe, reliable, affordable electricity. Supported work includes grid hardening, undergrounding, monitoring and control systems, and adaptive technologies. Selection priorities emphasize the greatest community benefit and projects that use a local, well-trained, well-paid workforce or demonstrate plans to attract, train, and retain skilled workers.
