Description
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management’s (ADEM’s) Operator Certification Program provides small grants to help implement Groundwater Festivals in Alabama for elementary and middle school students. The program subsidizes festival expenses, including educational materials and T-shirts, supporting activities that teach students about groundwater and related water systems.
Supported materials include supplies for building aquifers, wetlands, watersheds, and filtration systems, and for demonstrating the water cycle. Festival education aims to help children understand where their drinking water comes from, how to protect it, and why clean water matters for future generations. ADEM also provides guidance manuals with planning ideas, hands-on activities, and reference materials for festival organizers.
