    Description

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Gulf Research Program (GRP) runs ACT Houston, a multi-phase initiative focused on disaster adaptation in Harris County Precincts 1 and 2, Texas. Launched in 2025, it brought together local nonprofits, foundations, academia, and government to develop an evidence-based, community-driven framework of disaster-related priorities.

This Phase 2 implementation opportunity supports planning-grant teams in applying their established working relationships to place-based solutions. Projects advance priorities in planning and preparing together for response and recovery, or supporting collaborative research and solutions. The goal is to strengthen community assets and demonstrate early changes in health and resilience. Lessons learned will be shared with local stakeholders, GRP partners, and other Gulf communities interested in testing or investing in effective disaster adaptation solutions.
