The Louis Galambos National Fellowship in Business and Politics supports the completion of exceptional dissertations for which Hagley Library’s research materials constitute a significant source. Offered through Hagley Museum and Library and the Jefferson Scholars Foundation’s National Fellowship Program, it connects dissertation research with the program’s focus on U.S. history, politics, public policy, and foreign relations.
The fellow spends the fall and spring academic year in residence at Hagley and is paired with a senior scholar in their field for mentoring and critical guidance. At least one extended visit of approximately ten days to the Jefferson Scholars Foundation at the University of Virginia provides training relevant to leadership in academic research, higher education, and policy-making. The fellowship also offers opportunities to develop a research network and participate in Hagley’s scholarly community.
