Description
The Harry Reid Silver State Research Award recognizes University of Nevada, Las Vegas faculty whose research is highly regarded and responsive to the needs of Nevada and its communities. Created in 2001 to honor the late Nevada Senator Harry Reid, the award is administered through UNLV’s Division of Research and celebrates research with public relevance and scholarly distinction.
The award recognizes significant research that meets at least one of three priorities: positively affecting Nevada’s economic growth and development, addressing a relevant social need in the community or region, or demonstrably advancing scholarship in an academic field. It is not limited to a single subject area. The university President presents the award at the annual Academic Achievement Awards Ceremony in the spring.
