Description
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Harry Weaver Scholar Awards support exceptional emerging investigators whose research could be pivotal for the MS field. This flagship program provides five years of salary and research support, helping scholars establish expertise and leadership in their chosen research areas after completing research training and beginning independent academic careers.
The program supports basic and clinical MS research, including epidemiology, genetics, neurochemistry, neurobiology, neurophysiology, virology, immunology, pharmacology, patient management, and care and rehabilitation. Proposals should address the Society’s Pathways to Cures priorities: stopping disease activity, restoring function by reversing damage and symptoms, and ending MS by preventing new cases. The award honors Harry Weaver, Ph.D., the Society’s Director of Research from 1966–1977, who encouraged young investigators to pursue MS research.
