Key Information: Applicants must live within 75 driving miles of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and meet Harvard non-affiliation requirements.
Jointly funded by LEF Foundation and Harvard’s Film Study Center (FSC), this fellowship supports Boston-area nonfiction filmmakers who are not affiliated with Harvard. It funds short and long-form moving image projects intended for cinema exhibition, including experimental and hybrid nonfiction work. The fellowship combines financial support with production and post-production equipment access and participation in a community of filmmakers.
Work-in-progress screenings are central to the fellowship. Fellows share rushes, rough cuts, or fine cuts and receive feedback as their projects move through production and post-production. The selected filmmaker is expected to participate in these screenings, workshops, and other fellowship activities, benefiting from and contributing to the FSC community.
