Harvard Library’s Woodberry Poetry Room Creative Fellowship supports creative projects that would benefit from an immersive encounter with the Poetry Room and its collections. It welcomes work across literary, artistic, musical, scholarly, and digital disciplines, providing access to collections and research support from the Poetry Room’s curatorial staff. Past projects have included translation, short films, exploration of Seamus Heaney’s sound recordings, and a performance based on nineteenth-century Shakespearean actor Ira Aldridge.
The program is funded by the Dr. Michael & Teresa Anagnostopoulos Fund. Through the generosity of the T. S. Eliot Foundation, the fellowship also includes a one-week residency at the T. S. Eliot House in Gloucester, Massachusetts. This residency complements research at Harvard, while yearlong library access allows flexibility in scheduling collection visits.
