Description
The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) is a federally funded, state-administered program designed to help Michigan's state, local, tribal, and territorial governments rebuild stronger and safer following a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration. HMGP enables eligible entities to implement long-term mitigation projects that reduce or eliminate future risks to people and property from natural disasters. Typical projects include floodplain acquisitions, stormwater system improvements, drainage enhancements, safe room construction, and infrastructure retrofits.
