Description
The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), administered by the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and funded by FEMA, provides financial support for projects aimed at minimizing the impact and costs of future disasters across Oklahoma. Unlike disaster relief or recovery programs, HMGP funds proactive, cost-effective mitigation measures—such as property acquisition/demolition, safe room construction, flood risk reduction, and wildfire risk mitigation—to reduce loss of life and property. The program also includes a Post Fire component (HMGP-PF) for wildfire-specific mitigation following qualifying fire events.
