Description
Nevada’s Office of Emergency Management / Homeland Security administers federal hazard mitigation funding, including Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA). BRIC supports cost-effective infrastructure and construction projects addressing hazards such as flooding, earthquakes, wildfire, and wind, along with eligible building-code activities. The FY2024/2025 BRIC cycle emphasizes construction-ready projects with conceptual designs rather than general planning or Hazard Mitigation Plan development.
FMA provides competitive funding to reduce repetitive flood damage to National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)-insured properties and communities. Its funding supports capability and capacity building, localized flood-risk reduction, and individual property mitigation. Nevada OEM coordinates state submissions, reviews preliminary proposals, and supports local government and tribal subapplicants through its mitigation team.
