Description
The Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant, administered by the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (NMDHSEM), provides funding and technical assistance to enhance hazardous materials emergency planning and training at the state, tribal, territorial, and local levels in New Mexico. The program supports the development and updating of transportation emergency plans, execution of tabletop and full-scale exercises, and completion of commodity flow studies. It also funds a wide range of hazmat training activities for emergency responders, such as awareness, operations, technician and specialist courses, and both basic and advanced hazmat life support. The grant aims to strengthen preparedness and response capabilities for hazardous materials incidents across New Mexico communities.
