The Hazel Prichard student bursary is awarded jointly by the Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland and the Geological Society of London, with their Applied Mineralogy Group and Mineral Deposits Studies Group. Funded by Professor Prichard’s family, it honours her achievements in the mineral sciences and supports undergraduate and taught MSc students undertaking applied geological fieldwork or short-term placements as geologists with mineral exploration or mining companies.
Projects may or may not contribute to a degree course. They should address mineral genesis and concentration processes, mineral exploration, resource development, or the environmental impacts of extracting metalliferous and other minerals, excluding oil and gas. Funding supports travel and living costs during fieldwork or placements rather than analyses or laboratory work.
