Description
The Healthy Forests Healthy Waters (HFHW) program is a fully funded reforestation initiative for private landowners in Maryland. Supported by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and administered by the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and the Maryland Forestry Foundation, HFHW provides comprehensive, turnkey tree planting projects. The program covers all costs associated with site preparation, professional planting, and three years of follow-up maintenance. Participating landowners must have at least one acre of open land and agree to maintain the new forest for a minimum of ten years. The program aims to restore and expand Maryland’s forest cover, improve water quality, and enhance wildlife habitat.
