Description
Healthy Women Healthy Families is a New Jersey Department of Health initiative to improve maternal and infant health outcomes and reduce racial and health disparities. Its community-driven work includes community health workers, postpartum doula services, and breastfeeding education and support. These activities address needs during pregnancy, after birth, and among families with young children.
The grant also supports Connecting NJ specialists, who refer pregnant individuals and families with young children to needed resources and core programs and provide community education and outreach. The broader initiative uses coordinated services and municipality-based activities to increase postpartum care, particularly for Black non-Hispanic and Hispanic perinatal populations in New Jersey.
