The Hearst Foundations support nonprofit organizations across the United States in culture, education, health, and social services. Comprising The Hearst Foundation, Inc. and The William Randolph Hearst Foundation, these independent private philanthropies operate separately from the Hearst Corporation and share funding guidelines, leadership, and staff. Their mission is to help individuals from all backgrounds lead healthy, productive, and inspiring lives.
Support includes program, capital, and endowment grants. The Foundations emphasize demonstrable long-term impact on the populations served and consistent stewardship by grantees. This is an organizational funding opportunity: requests undergo proposal review, financial analysis, and impact evaluation before advancing to a site visit and possible Board approval. Advocacy and public policy research, seed funding, and pilot programs are excluded.
