Description
The Helen and Frederick Gaige Fund Awards are annual student research grants administered by the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists (ASIH). They support museum or laboratory study, fieldwork, and other activities that contribute to the science of herpetology while enhancing students’ professional careers. Applicants should be enrolled in an advanced degree program.
The awards honor Helen and Frederick (Dick) Gaige, whose support for colleagues and students influenced biology and herpetology. Proposals are assessed on merit and need. Successful applications have presented clearly described central hypotheses or questions that the proposed research could answer, at least in part. Investigations placing specific questions within a broader biological context have consistently ranked highly.
