Description
The Hellman Fellowships Program at Williams College supports significant research endeavors undertaken in Williamstown or while traveling. Made possible by a gift from The Hellman Fellows Program, it helps assistant professors advance scholarly work beyond what would be possible without fellowship support. Projects are considered within the applicant’s broader research program, with attention to their potential to contribute substantially to its advancement and produce significant results.
The fellowship supports practical research expenses rather than salary. Awards are made without regard to the apparent timeliness or popularity of the proposed field of study. The Dean of the Faculty reviews applications with the Committee on Appointments and Promotions to determine recipients and award sizes.
