The Helmholtz Doctoral Award honors exceptional doctoral researchers at Helmholtz Centers for their scientific achievements and contributions to addressing societal challenges. The award aims to foster early-career scientific excellence, encourage mission-driven research, and support recipients in pursuing impactful careers in science and application. Awards are granted in two tracks—outstanding knowledge-driven research (Track A) and outstanding application-oriented research (Track B)—with one recipient per research field (six fields per track, twelve awards in total). Track B recipients may also be eligible for a Field Study Fellowship to further explore the application potential of their research.
