Description
Helping Hands to Members – Disaster Relief is a humanitarian grant program administered by the Sons of Norway Foundation. It assists members whose homes have been significantly damaged and deemed unlivable for a period of time because of a natural disaster. Covered disasters include floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, and other catastrophes. Assistance is intended for damage to a member’s primary residence.
The program reflects the Foundation’s broader mission to celebrate Nordic culture and heritage through scholarships and grants to members and communities. Disaster relief awards are supported through its Humanitarian Fund, with final decisions based on assessments of loss and the financial support available. A review committee considers applications on a rolling basis.
