Description
The Henrietta Tower Wurts Memorial supports programs and general operating needs of organizations serving disadvantaged children and youth and/or elderly people in Philadelphia. Established to carry out the wishes of Henrietta Tower Wurts, who died in 1933, the memorial focuses on work where a modest grant can play a significant role and where meaningful goals are proportionate to the total resources committed.
Priority goes to organizations with budgets under $1.5 million and those offering holistic programming. Applicants must demonstrate that the community’s voice shapes their programs in ways that go beyond surveys or participant data. Summer programs and camps may receive support. The Philadelphia Foundation administers applications and distributes awards approved by the memorial’s Board of Directors.
