Description
The Heritage Arts Apprenticeship Program supports the preservation of traditional practices important to communities, heritage, and identity in Washington. Co-sponsored by Humanities Washington and the Washington State Arts Commission through WACultures, it pairs master artists with apprentices for a year of direct teaching and learning. Traditions may include music, dance, visual arts, language practices, verbal arts, traditional skills, foodways, occupational arts, and storytelling.
The program aims to keep community knowledge and skills active for future generations. Participants receive mentoring and opportunities to connect with others, develop professional and leadership skills, and share their work at a public event.
