The Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame awards one Hewlett Visiting Fellowship for Public Policy annually through competitive selection. The fellowship supports practitioners, policymakers, journalists, educators, artists, activists, and other professionals whose work advances global democracy. It provides time within the Institute’s academic community to reflect on an area of interest and develop a book, artistic work, policy proposal, curricular program, or another innovative endeavor.
The program emphasizes the practice, defense, and advancement of democracy, with particular attention to public engagement and a project’s relevance and potential impact. Fellows pursue independent research or a special project advancing a publication for a general audience. Seminars, lectures, presentations, and informal exchanges with faculty, students, and fellow visitors support intellectual exchange and collaboration.
